Mayweather vs. Ortiz: A review of the upcoming fight
By Dan Henderson: September 17th should bring a good fight between WBC welterweight champion Vicious Victor Ortiz and Floyd Money Mayweather Jr. Victor Ortiz has turned his career around after his fight against Andre Berto in what was an epic encounter where he showed heart and courage to climb up of the canvas and win a unanimous decision.
Everyone questioned Ortiz’s heart in the fight with the hard hitting Marcos Maidana where he seemed to give up. After the fight Ortiz was heavily criticized but I feel it was unfair as you can’t judge him because he was getting a savage beating and a lot of people would not have been able to take that punishment that night maybe I’m wrong.
Floyd Mayweather is being considered a heavy favourite for the fight for the obvious reason of him being in many peoples eyes the P4P king and he has come into the fight with his usual confidence and flamboyancy. Mayweather has trashed talked Ortiz in the run up to the fight picking up on the point of the Maidana fight.
Which is pretty normal as Floyd does that with everyone he fights he is good at getting into your head. I have always admired Floyd’s skills as a fighter the way he defends himself with the shoulder roll technique and the the counter punching abilities but at the same time I admire Victor’s hunger and determination to beat Mayweather which makes for an interesting fight.
I do believe Mayweather will win on September 17th I feel this has come to early for Victor but if Victor Ortiz was to perform well and still lose then I don’t think it would matter to much Ortiz is only 24 years old and could still go on to great things and would still command the respect of the boxing public. Now If Victor was to beat Mayweather where would that leave a potential fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacman Pacquiao?
